“I spent yesterday walking the floor of the New York Antiquarian Book Fair taking stock of the literally thousands and thousands of books, manuscripts, musical compositions, ancient and rare books and folios, up to contemporary publications including mint condition first editions. When you read about the Book Fair, the press is always talking about the expensive pieces on display and for sale. Yesterday I bought eleven “Big Little Books”, from the 1930’s – 1940’s featuring Buck Rogers, The Lone Ranger, Tarzan and Buffalo Bill, all of these I purchased for $110. In addition to these books I also found a book that I have been looking for, for a long while “The Boys of Summer” by Roger Kahn; which is the best book on baseball, especially because it includes my beloved Brooklyn Dodgers. I purchased this first edition, with its original dust cover, for $35. Thousands of books like these are at this week’s Book Fair and are easily affordable to most people.” – Sanford Smith
